Top 5 Tips to Make the Most out of your Restaurant Experience

  1. Before you dine out, check out the latest inspections from your favorite restaurant, on our website http://www.butlercountyhealth.org/inspection_reports.html.

  2. Your customer service experience starts with a clean establishment inside and out. You be the judge!

  3. Take a closer look at your utensils, glasses, cups and dishes. Are they clean??

  4. You wouldn't eat in the restroom, but you should feel comfortable being there. Is it clean or dirty?

  5. Make sure it's right from the start. Is your food cooked correctly? Is your dining experience good or bad?

Remember, the best inspector is you!

Happy New Year!

As we begin 2008, many of us have made resolutions to become healthier this year.

Did you know... extra weight puts you at risk for developing many diseases, especially heart disease, stroke, diabetes and cancer?

Top 10 Actions
To Help Prevent and Control Chronic Diseases

  1. Eat Smart. Eat a variety of foods including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, low fat dairy products, lean meats and healthy fats. Cut down on portion sizes and skip seconds. Reduce sugar and sodium in your diet along with high-calorie drinks. Go for water.
  2. Move More. Be active 30-60 minutes most days of the week. Include regular stretching and do activities to build strength 2-3 times per week.
  3. Maintain a Healthy Weight. Balance calories you eat with calories you use during activities.
  4. Be Tobacco Free. Avoid secondhand smoke. If you use tobacco products, try to quit.
  5. Avoid Risky Behaviors. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Protect your skin from too much sun exposure.
  6. Get recommended health screenings. For early detection of disease, have your health care provider test for blood pressure, cholesterol, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, diabetes and cervical cancer.
  7. Take prescribed medications and ask your doctor about others. Ask your doctor about taking aspirin to prevent heart disease. Keep up to date with immunizations including flu shots (yearly after age 50) and a pneumonia shot (after age 65).
  8. If you have chronic disease, you can make a difference. Follow your health care providers' advice and take necessary medications. Seek help to understand your health care needs and get essential services.
  9. Stay connected with family and friends.
  10. Enjoy your life.
